  1. hey steve! me again 😉

i had some thoughts about this new medium. do you think atmos uhd is gonna deliver the full range like 65 independant channels or is it more of an upgrade from the basic 11 channels op to 22 or something?

with kind regards, you biggest fan 😉

    1. lol !

There is not indication that Atmos at home will change on UHD because it would mean a change to receivers also, and it’s not coming as far as we know.

Having said that, there is no 11 channels limitation in the Atmos content right now, even on Bluray. The audio content of an Atmos track is 7.1 bed channels (the typical 7.1 channels) + audio objects encoded in the 3D space.

The 11 channels limitation come from the receivers and their decoding power. As a proof of this, you can buy a Trinnov Altitude processor right now and benefit from up to 32 channels.

The actual limitation for Dolby Atmos at home is 24.1.10, so 34 traditional channels.

      1. thats good news but sadly also bad news. i know the trinitov system but its like a thousand bucks a channel! 34k dollar for the soundsystem of the millenium… ! also, do you have read about the atmos soundbar ? it has 40 or so individual speakers in 1 soundbar LOL
