Just a quick update to let you know that Forrest Gump is coming from Paramount on Ultra HD Blu-ray on June 12. More updates to come on the audio format for this one.

Also, the studio seemed to have given a date to the rumoured Terminator Genisys UHD Blu-ray release for June 12 also. It will also include Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

As usual, I updated the listing pages on the site.

Last Jedi, Downsizing and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing release dates

A couple of quick updates in this beginning of the week.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing (February 27) and Downsizing (March 20) now both have a release dates on Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray, sadly none of them will include object-based audio.

Speaking about release dates, it seems Bestbuy are announcing a release date of March 27 for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. More to come later, I imagine we’ll see the official announcement this week.

Finally, it seems that 2001: A Space Odyssey is coming to 4K Blu-ray, again more to come when it’s official.

LG UltraHD Blu-ray Player UP970 Dolby Vision Firmware Released Yet Again

Note: It’s back ! The firmware has been released again, with the region issue fixes.

Note: As of this February 7th, the firmware update has been pulled once again, so if you did not update your player before, you’re out of luck again. It seems that the update was changing the Blu-ray region from B to A in Europe, so it could be the reason why.

Quick post to let you know that LG finally released for a second time the Dolby Vision firmware upgrade this morning for their UP970 Ultra HD Blu-ray player. The firmware was initially released for a very brief period last fall, but was pulled because of unknown reasons.

I quickly confirmed this morning that everything was working well, so know it will be time for some Ultra HD Blu-ray listening in Dolby Vision, starting with Westworld Season 1.

Pitch Perfect Trilogy Coming to Ultra HD Blu-ray with DTS:X

Quick update of the site today to let you know that Universal will release the 3 Pitch Perfect movies on Ultra HD Blu-ray on March 20. All 3 UHD releases will offer a DTS:X soundtrack and the Blu-ray of the 3rd movie will also offer DTS:X.

For the first two movies it’s a brand new object based audio as the movies were not offered in theatres with Atmos nor DTS:X. In the case of the most recent movie, it’s actually one of the rare cases where a theatrical Atmos release is transitionned to DTS:X for home.

Please note that I also added Ferdinand UHD to the list of Dolby Atmos titles and listed the third Maze Runner movie to the list of upcoming UHD titles as Amazon is already taking preorders for it.
